About Us

The volunteer group known as the “Friends” started with the 2001-2002
first season of the North Port Performing Arts Center. It began with a small group of volunteers who helped greet patrons and take tickets at the doors for the North Port Performing Arts Association concerts. Then helping with the high school Drama Club.

By the 2003-2004 Season the “Friends” became the Society of the North Port Performing Arts Center with officers, a trustee and a membership of 150. We then became a 501 C (3) non profit volunteer group.

The Society members are now assisting in the box office 5 days a week, ushering, taking tickets,  back stage set-up and managers of the House.

The 2006-2007 Season ended with the Society awarding our first scholarship of $500. to a graduating senior attending an arts college, the proceeds of which came from a Valentine evening with Martin Preston as Liberace.

The 2007-2008 Season was the Society's first Show of Show series. There were three different comedy and musical shows. Our mission and purpose of this series was to raise funds to give back to our arts and music departments in all of the North Port schools. Private music lessons have been given to 10 students.

2009- $5000. was donated to Glenallen Elementary School for 5 music and arts assemblies for the whole school. $2000. was given to the Thespians for their trip to NY City. Four students are continuing their music lssons.
